How to Join a Social Club in Barcelona

Quick Steps

Step 1:  Look for a Social Club that interests you

Step 2:  Purchase a Fast-Track Pass or get recommended by a friend

Step 3:  Go to the Social Club

Step 4:  Follow the rules of the Social Club

(i) If you purchase a Fast-Track Pass from El Capitan, you will NOT have to pay a membership fee at the Social Club.

Explanation

First, let's give you a brief overview of the legal status for cannabis in Spain. It is not prohibited to purchase, sell, store, or consume cannabis in public places in Spain. However, local laws are very accommodating to private space. You can do anything you want on your territory so long as it doesn't interfere with other citizens. People can also join various interests associations. Even though there are no laws that allow the smoking of marijuana, certain situations permit its legalization.

How can I legally consume Cannabis in Spain?

  1. Two plants may be grown on your private property, provided they are not visible from the street. You can also smoke marijuana in a private area. Simply put, you can grow marijuana at home and smoke it in a private area. However, it is important that neighbors are not disturbed by the smell and that passers-by don't get itchy eyes from the plants or window sills.

  1. A private Barcelona cannabis club is available. These clubs are informal, non-profit associations of pot enthusiasts. The marijuana is then grown and distributed to the members. To cover the costs of growing marijuana, members make "contributions". These so-called "marijuana bars", which are very cozy spaces, allow you to consume the cannabis provided only within these areas.

What is a Social Club Fast-Track Pass?

El Capitan, a brand and service provider based in Barcelona, is currently working with many social clubs / cannabis clubs in Barcelona. El Capitan can introduce you to a partner club and provide you with fast access to the person responsible. You should also be aware that Barcelona does not have coffee shops like you may know. The term "Coffee shop" is from Amsterdam, while the term "private club" is used in Barcelona.

Before you go to the Social Club

You can buy a Social Club Fast Track Pass if you meet the legal age ( 21 and older). After purchasing the fast track pass, you'll immediately receive a confirmation ticket with your personal details. El Capitan will immediately contact the Social Club to add you to the Special " guest list".

You will find the contact information for the Social Club, as well as the opening times in your "Confirmation" ticket. You will also receive an email explaining the rules and how to behave, as well as the legalities. The Social Club Fast Track Pass allows you to go whenever you like, immediately after you have purchased it. A receptionist will let you know that you are coming , and will be waiting for you at your convenience.

Once you arrive at the Social Club

You must present the ticket at the receptionist. Be sure to mention your name and provide valid identification. After checking your compliance with their rules, the receptionist will let you in to the club.

You will normally be required to pay non-refundable membership fees, usually between 20EUR to 50EUR. However, as you are El Capitan you won't have to pay this fee. Your personal membership certificate will be given by the receptionist. You can use it to charge as much as you like. The minimum amount you can charge is usually 20 EUR, but this depends on which club you are joining. You can access the Social Cub with your membership card and any money added to it.
